7 Thought-provoking Curtain Wall Applications
Many "typical" applications of industrial fabric curtain walls involve separating large, 2-dimensional spaces for temperature control or other zoning purposes. Yet the design of these modular, flexible systems also makes them ideal for less straightforward challenges. Here are seven thought-provoking, real-life curtain wall applications:
1.Contain Heat from Large Machines: When high temperatures produced by equipment or machinery blast workers or affect the environment in adjacent areas, a curtain wall can be constructed in virtually any 3-dimensional configuration to contain the equipment. There is really no limit to the size or shape of such a heat containment structure, which can include built-in access doors.
2. Create Necessary Privacy: Say you're building submarines, naval defense systems or other highly sensitive equipment that you wish to keep out of view of the general traffic coming through your plant. Sliding curtains up to 60 feet tall can be built to surround areas of any size.
3. Knock-down Ambient Sound: Workers in the offices adjacent to your warehouse complain of forklift and other industrial noise intruding into their space through the open ceiling structure. An insulated curtain wall can be applied to create a sound barrier between the two areas to create a more pleasant and productive work environment.
4. Enclose Mixing/Blending Operations: How do you keep the flour, dust, or allergens produced in one part of your plant from spreading into other areas where employees and sensitive equipment might be at risk? A curtain wall can be designed to contain offending contaminants and prevent them from infiltrating other areas.
5. Contain Production Lines during Wash-down: You need a simple way to keep the wash-down process contained to the area you're actually washing down. Sliding fabric walls made especially for this purpose can simplify the situation.
6. Protect Product from the Unexpected: Should the power go out or your cooler or freezer door stop working and now warm temperatures threaten your frozen or chilled products, an insulated curtain wall door blanket can be quickly deployed to close-off the door to help maintain the temperature-controlled environment.
7. Reconfigure Warehouse Space: Demand for your product has decreased since the economy took a downward turn, and you really don''t want to continue to heat the entire warehouse when you''re only using two-thirds of the space. Partitioning off that space with a curtain wall allows you the flexibility to open it back up when demand returns.
