3 Examples of Using Curtain Walls for Noise Control
Acoustic curtain walls offer a relatively new approach to providing employee safety and comfort from excessive noise levels. The flexible sound curtains can either be wrapped around noisy machines like a blanket or attached to a close-quarters support frame around the equipment. Larger sound enclosures can be formed using the modular curtain panels, including complete rooms or separating walls. In this blog post, we will look at three applications where curtain walls were effectively used to achieve noise control. You will also be able to see before and after photos of each situation.
Application 1:
Customer had a material grinder that produced uncomfortable decibel (db) levels, hindering employee comfort and productivity when engaged. A Zoneworks SZ Acoustic Curtain Wall enclosure was installed around the machine to minimize the noise. The customer is thrilled to have the curtain wall. He says, simply put, “It is accomplishing the job we purchased it for!”
Application 2:
Customer wanted to lower the db level created by a large grinding machine. Several options were offered and SZ noise control curtains were chosen. The unique feature is the lower half of the curtain wall which slides in various configurations on dual tracks. The customer is extremely happy with the results – the sound level has been cut to less than half – and wants to explore enclosing other machines/processes.
Application 3:
Customer built a new facility with additional office space. The room was large and loud, which didn’t allow for it to be used for multiple purposes at the same time. The solution was a sliding SZ2 Acoustic Curtain Wall, which can be closed to divide the space or pushed out of the way for quick access to the whole room. The customer’s response, “I love it; exactly what I needed and expected.”
